Finance Manager

JOB PURPOSE

This position directs and supervises the Finance & Accounts function viz. Financial Accounting, MIS reporting and Banking & Treasury management. The key objective is to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting through systems control, training and supervision of the team.

Assist the Vice President – Finance and Administration in setting long term objectives of the University, and devising strategies to achieve these objectives.

Develop and maintain financial systems control throughout the University to safeguard its Assets and to ensure smooth and efficient operations of all financial matters related to the University.

KEY ACTIVITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Accounting & Controls

  1. To prepare annual budget and forecasts (Revenues, CAPEX and OPEX) based on the business plan of the University and also based estimates received from other departments.
  2. Design and oversee the timely preparation of the monthly MIS report – P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flows, with schedules and analysis on revenue, expenditures and cash flows.
  3. Conduct variance analysis between actual and budgeted financial results, work on solving the differences identified and report to the top management causes and relevant suggestions for scope in improving efficiency.
  4. Monitor receivable and payable accounts as well as enforce strict control on credit limits.
  5. Constantly monitor and review existing processes and internal controls and make changes as necessary.
  6. Manage finalization of the yearly accounts and reporting according to company reporting rules and IFRS.
  7. Address the requirements of the External Auditors and help them complete the audit process within a reasonable timeframe (2 months from end of the financial period).
  8. Ensure that all the activities of the Finance Department are implemented in line with the Finance Department policies and procedures.
  1. Funds Management & Banking

  1. Ensure optimal utilization of University’s resources by effective cash and working capital management, rigorous monitoring on cost control and capital expenditures.
  2. Assess long/short term funds requirements and making appropriate arrangements to manage the same.  
  3. Prepare the weekly and monthly reports on funds and cash flows based on estimated flows.
  4. Liaise with banks and arrange for trade finance to meet working capital requirements.
  5. Maintain excellent relationships with the banks and manage their regular reporting requirements.
  6. Submit when required relevant data to banks and financial institutions in order to receive or renew facilities offered by banks.
  1. Others
  1. Keep a tight check on suppliers’ terms and credit period, and advise other departments to negotiate on the same lines.
  2. Lead the Accounts team in executing their roles efficiently and accurately and provide guidance from time-to-time.
  3. Review salaries of staff, advise bank on transfer of salaries.

Apart from the duties and responsibilities listed above, any additional duties as advised by the Supervisor/Management from time to time, will also form a part of the job.

KEY RESULT AREAS

  1. Timely and accurate preparation of monthly and annual accounts statements.
  2. Completion of statutory audit within reasonable timeframe (say two months from end of financial period).
  3. Initiative and innovation in finding cost effective solutions for funding needs.
  4. Ability to lead the team effectively.
  1. Innovations in cost control and costs management.
  2. Smooth interactions with students and staff with regard to fee queries and payment follow ups.

Operating environment, Working relationships

  1. This position interacts with academic and non-academic staff to clarify any salary / payments / dues related issues.
  2. The position interacts with HR and other departments to ensure the salary/benefits and leave related payments/dues are accurate.
  3. The positions also interacts with the President and the Vice President of the University to provide MIS and data as and when requested, and support them in financial decision making  

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

1.    The ideal candidate should be qualified accountant – CA/CPA/ACCA with at least 8-10 years of hands-on experience in a similar role. Academic industry exposure would be an added advantage.

2.    Should have knowledge of IFRS, with proven experience in finalization of accounts and excellent knowledge of internal controls and processes within the finance and accounts department.

3.    Excellent communication and English skills are essential.

4.    Should be knowledgeable in IT and preferably ERP.

5.    Should have handled banking relationships and managed bank documentation, with good knowledge and experience at arranging funding, including for working capital needs

Public Relations Officer 

CVs are invited from Public Relation Officer having 5-10 years of progressive experience preferably in the university system. He /She must have had experience of managing the PRO Job of an Institution / University independently. 

He / She would be expected to

-Oversee the overall operations of the PRO Jobs and Processes.

-Assist the HR Manager in all the visa processes.

-Take care of planning, implementation and control aspects of the Labour Permit and Visa Approvals for all people. 

-Ensure overall compliance of the university in compliance with the CAA standards 2011 and other prevalent laws of UAE.

-Ensure complete documentation of the Labour permit and Visa Approval and Cancellation processes. 

-Prepare the monthly plan and submit monthly report of activities done.

-Orient the students, faculty and staff members about the labour permit, visa and Emirates ID processes, and guidelines.

-Any other assignments assigned by the Management.

-Have strong oral and written communication skills in English and preferably Arabic. (TOEFL -500 and Above)

-Prepare and update the policies and guidelines pertaining to Admissions and Registration department.
